Event Description: Being Human
At its core, BEING HUMAN represents the best of Pan-European artistry and multiculturalism, blending diverse traditions into a unique and electrifying musical experience. The name reflects the band’s essence—music that is deeply human, emotional, and universally resonant. It encapsulates the energy, passion, and emotions that flow through their performances.
Comprising four exceptionally talented musicians, BEING HUMAN fuses modern jazz with folk traditions, enriched by moments of uninhibited improvisation. Simple yet deeply expressive melodic ideas evolve into high-intensity passages where the band’s collective energy erupts. A few years ago, the band had the privilege of recording an album with jazz superstar Seamus Blake, an experience that further shaped their sound and artistic direction.
The band’s members each bring a wealth of experience and artistry. Lithuanian guitarist Mindaugas Stumbras masterfully blends modern jazz and contemporary classical music, crafting inventive harmonies and lyrical phrasing that add depth and sophistication to the band’s sound. On bass, Michelangelo Scandroglio, a rising star in the European jazz scene, has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Riga International Jazz Competition and the Tomorrow’s Jazz award. His playing is both technically masterful and deeply expressive, anchoring the band with a rich, melodic foundation. Pianist Fergus McCreadie, one of Britain’s most exciting young jazz artists, was awarded the Scottish Jazz Awards' Best Instrumentalist at just 20 years old. His breathtaking mix of rhythmic complexity, folk influences, and stunning improvisation makes him a standout voice in contemporary jazz. Providing the heartbeat of the band, drummer Mattia Galeotti is a dynamic and versatile musician who has worked extensively within the Tuscan jazz scene and beyond. With his band Lilac for People, he won the JazzAlguer 2018 competition under the direction of Paolo Fresu. His rhythmic drive and ability to shape the music’s flow make him an integral force within BEING HUMAN.
Together, these musicians create an exhilarating soundscape where different cultures, styles, and energies collide in the most harmonious way. BEING HUMAN is not just a band—it’s a musical journey that transcends boundaries and speaks to the soul.
