Curator's note -

TRIGGER ALERT - Viewer's discretion as objects on display may trigger memories, which could be bad as well as good.

All things big and small as they become a part of our lives, consciously or subconsciously, attach memories. The memories over the years become faded or tucked away in parts of our brain that are not in constant access. Thankfully! For, can you imagine a deluge of all memories alive and vivid all the time at the same time.
Yaadghar यादघर is a motley collection of some objects from my own past, and many that I have collected over the years or acquired by inheritance. Some belonged to friends or family and some complete strangers as I had the local kabadi wallah let me retain them or when on occasions I've found objects on the streets, discarded.
Each object has the capacity to transport the viewer to an actual or perceived memory for many a times we live with collective memories which might or might not have even a connection to us. The synaptic connections seem all too real to us at the moment and fake or otherwise, they define our emotional connection for the time being.
The installation invites visitors to interact and engage with the individual objects, or with their juxtaposed existence in the walk-in installation to spark memories triggered by personal or collective experiences.
A feedback form available after the opening on 1st September 2023 is a way to partially record these experiences for a collection of data that deserves to be recorded and assessed. A paper at the end of the month-long exhibition could be a just product, apart from all the conversations that it'll ignite.
Assistance of Team Urban Fringe - the underground studio (Naved, Ashish and Madhavi) can't be highlighted enough and so are all the named and un-named contributors to the collection. A female mannequin by Arjun, a male one by Prasoon Poddar (including some hands cast by him), and many others are worth mentioning and acknowledging.
Do you think that you feel that there's an object that you still possess (past it's due date) for pure sentiments, let us know and if you wish can be made a part of the exhibit for the duration of the exhibition, with due mention to the contributor with a short detail of the connection. Humans are very sentimental beings.
