Event Description: Delhi Blue Pottery Trust & India Habitat Centre Present CeramicsFest Delhi 2022
An exposition of ceramics from all over India
The Delhi Blue Pottery Trust’s annual studio pottery festival, CeramicsFest, returns to Delhi after a hiatus of two years caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In its tenth edition, this marquee event will be presented this year in the lush green outdoor spaces of the India Habitat Centre.
CeramicsFest is the largest gathering in the country of ceramic artists on a single platform. With eighty potters participating this year, this extravaganza offers a unique opportunity for visitors to initiate direct dialogue and interactions with the artists, thereby facilitating a greater understanding of this art form. The allure of experiencing and actually touching these skilfully shaped ceramic pieces is what makes this festival such an attraction for enthusiasts and buyers.
Due to the final processes of glazing and firing, hand made ceramics take on an ethereal individuality of their own. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art that cannot be replicated. This particular characteristic renders studio pottery with a rare distinction and makes it popular across a spectrum of consumers including architects, interior designers, home makers and lovers of art.
The Delhi Blue Pottery Trust was founded in 1991 by the legendary Sardar Gurcharan Singh, the pioneer of studio pottery in India. Since its inception, the Trust has worked tirelessly to realise his vision of promoting ceramics and bringing them to the forefront of contemporary art. The CeramicsFest is an integral part of this enterprise.
