Launch of a book co-authored by Steffanie Strathdee and Tom Patterson

Chief Guest: Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, South-East Asia Region, World Health Organisation

Followed by a lecture

Speaker: Prof. Steffanie Strathdee, an infectious disease epidermiologist, renowned for her research on the intersection of HIV and drug use. She is Associate Dean of Global Health Sciences & Harold Simon Professor of Medicine, University of California, San Diego

Chair: Prof. Balram Bhargava, Secretary, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Director-General, Indian Council of Medical Research

Dr. Strathdee will present the case study of her husband, Dr. Tom Patterson, who was stricken with a pan-resistant bacterial infection and was rescued with intravenous phage therapy as well as others who have been similarly treated successfully in other countries
