Directed by the reigning queen of Indian theatre Lillette Dubey.
• After the resounding success of Gauhar. Kanyadaan, Salaam Noni Appa and many more, Lillette Dubey is back with a new story aboutthe golden age of Indian cinema, defined by Devika Rani, the first lady of the Indian cinema.
• Kishwar Desai, an ace writer and has written this play after an extensive research on Devika Rani & will be publishing a book on the legend soon.
About Devika Rani :
Devika Rani is India’s first screen goddess. Ahead of her time, she was a feisty, bold and an independent woman.
• She pursued her interest in cinema in London where she meets Himanshu Rai. They start working together and later get married.
• On their return to India, Himanshu Rai opens ‘Bombay Talkies’, which Devika Rani takes forward, hence becoming the first Indian woman to head this iconic institution.
• Her movies were super hits worldwide with Acchut Kanya and Jeevan Naiyya becoming iconic.
• Her first film Karma holds the record for the longest kissing scene even after 85 years.

Devika Rani is a biopic of courage, determination, vision and individuality.
• A young girl wishing to pursue her career as a silver screen artist, the play shows an intriguing elaboration on exciting aspects of her life.
• A woman with a bold persona, the play displays her enigmatic character, reminding India of the first woman of the Indian Cinema.
