Event Description : THEATRE : Black Pearl Arts presents 5Elementz Art & Culture Society's "Hum Aise Hain Bhayia" Hindi Comedy Play.
HUM TOH AISE HAIN BHAIYA is a play that straddles genres, existing as both a comedy and a melodrama. It is indian Adaptation of Harvey Fierstein's play(TORCH SONG TRILOGY) opened at New York's Richard Allen Center in October, 1981, and moved to the Off-Broadway Actors Playhouse in January of 1982. The play opened on Broadway in June, 1983, at the Little Theatre and continued for a long and successful run, having won several awards, including two Antoinette "Tony" Perry Awards.
The story centers on Jay, a T.V Shoa host (,which he presents female) living in New Delhi.
Jay is a single mother raising gay teenager Raghav. Jay is forced to deal with his mother's intolerance and disrespect when she visits him.
The award-winning and popular work broke new ground in the theatre: "At the height of the post-Stonewall clone era, Harvey challenged both gay and straight audiences to champion an effeminate gay man's longings for love and family."
Directed by : Rakhi Manuv
