The story of Nitaboh, creator of Tsugaru Shamisen (a traditional Japanese musical instrument and its unique performance style) told through animation. Nitaboh was born into a poor family in the rural province of Aoromi, located in the northern tip of Japan's main island. His mother died soon after his birth, and he lost his eyesight when he was 8 years old. Misfortune continued to befall him throughout his young life. His father's death made Nitaboh an orphan at the age of 11. In spite of his plight, he decided to seek a career playing the traditional shamisen. Nitaboh set off in pursuit of his own shamisen training and performances. As a result, he rose above himself and developed a unique performance style which endures until today.

This film is originally produced and distributed by Mushi Production Co. Inc. Japan. A young girl named Tomoko visits the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. There she has a mysterious meeting with Sadako, the little girl who was very small when the U.S. dropped the bomb on her city during WWII and 11 when she died from the effects of radiation poisoning. Sadako takes Tomoko on an eye-opening journey.
