The programme marks the India launch of the journal

The lecture will examine the myth that widely assumes that yogis have been practising innumerable asanas since time immemorial. Dr. Birch will present and discuss much of the important textual and material evidence for asanas in contexts of yoga and asceticism (tapas). Early references to asanas and its role in various religions and systems of yoga will be discussed
