Event Description : Sahapedia, in collaboration with HarperCollins India presents a talk by T.C.A Raghavan on his first book 'Attendant Lords - Bairam Khan and Abdur Rahim, Courtiers and Poets in the Mughal Court'

T.C.A. Raghavan will talk about two noblemen Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan and his father Bairam Khan against the backdrop of the courtly intrigues, the brutal power struggles and the grand literary endeavors of the Mughal court. He will, in this background also look at their afterlives—how history has reincarnated them as national heroes; how their life stories have undergone subtle transformations; and, at how history, religion and literature combine in the broader context of communalism, nationalism and nation building.

About the Speaker: T.C.A. Raghavan is a former High Commissioner of India to Pakistan and Singapore. He is the author of Attendant Lords: Bairam Khan and Abdur Rahim, Poet and Courtier in Mughal India (HarperCollins, 2017). This is his first book.
