Street Art adds character and a certain charm to the otherwise seemingly nondescript cities across the globe. It amuses, adds aesthetic value and meaning to bricks and mortar. Delhi Tourism in collaboration with Austrian Cultural Forum, Austrian Embassy, New Delhi is all set to present an exhibition of the works of Mr. Jeremias Altmann, an Austrian artist renowned for drawing, printmaking and wall painting.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Michael Heinz, Director – Austrian Cultural Forum, Sh. S. P. Singh, MD & CEO, DTTDC and Sh. Naresh Kuparia, an eminent Installation Artist and an International Award Winner, in august presence of Dr. Georg Zehetner, Head of Austrian Embassy, Mr. Rajan Sehgal, Co-Chairman, Tourism Committee of FICCI, Mrs. Cristina Mukherjee, Director, Austrian Tourism Board of India and Mrs. Shovana Narayan, a renowned Kathak Dancer at Dilli Haat - INA today.
The Austrian artist Jeremias Altmann alias Jermy is creating a wall painting in the near amphitheatre at Dilli Haat – INA, where people usually sit to enjoy cultural activities. Also, Jermy is showcasing his creations which he made early this year during his stay in Delhi and through his sketches, paintings, printmaking has always tried to bring art to a common man, to whom it really belongs in the central courtyard of Dilli Haat INA Market where people usually sit to enjoy and now for a week can observe his paintings. Worldwide, Street art has really grown up to become a very conspicuous medium for conveying messages on social, environmental, peace and other relevant issues of day to day life. Jermy in last 5 years has also painted a series of wallpaintings / Graffiti commissioned by the city of Vienna. He had also participated in exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, France, Greece, China and Canada.
This exhibition provides him with an opportunity to communicate with the daily guests representing all spheres of life, religion, caste and creed through his wall painting, by providing him an important space where people can observe his work and him working. Jermy is open to all queries and questions of the people watching him at work or while contemplating about his next work.
