Event Description : THEATRE : Yavanika presents "Paisa Bolta Hai" Hindi Comedy Play.
It is a well known comedy play written by Sangeet Natak Akademy Award Winner Sh. Ramesh Mehta. The protagonist of the play is a village boy named Panchu who is simple and naive. Panchu is brought to the city by a family that treats him like an unpaid servant. Tara is a maid in the same house who is silently in love with Panchu. She tries to protect him from time to time. Balli Babu, a tenant in the house, is sympathetic towards Panchu wins the lottery for Five Crores. The family members suddenly change their attitude towards him and begin treating him like a VIP in the house. Everybody wants Panchu to spend his money on them and to fulfil their desires. The table turns once again when the family gets to know that the winning number was wrongly reported and Panchu has not won the lottery. Panchu the VIP becomes a servant a servant once again and the family asks him to leave the house. Panchu is heartbroken with their behaviour. Suddenly they are informed that Panchu has won the lottery. The family again tries to lure Panchu but he leaves the house with Tara.
The play is a social comment on the declining value of affection and loyalty and the increasing importance of money, which brings with it power and status in the eyes of the people. Human qualities and morals are often considered futile in the fast pace of city life. The message is conveyed through humour which makes it less preachy but has a greater impact on the audiences.
