Queer Conversations
What does it mean to be a media person and queer? How do we care for others and ourselves as queer selves as we get older? What is sexuality doing in student politics? How do movements react to sexuality framed in terms of the nation and nationalism? Do queer artists perform as queer artists –what makes a work “queer”?
Join QueerFest for two wintry evenings of conversations around queerness and media, ageing, art, movements and student politics. Four unique panels will discuss and explore these questions as they try to breathe life into queer selves in Delhi.
Delhi QueerFest 2016
The Delhi QueerFest is many things. It is a space where every year queer folk, of various genders, with a rainbow of desires and ways of being, emphasise their thriving culture in Delhi. It is a space that lends itself to creativity, allowing people to create new rhythms, experiences, imaginations and possibilities. It also presents a time to be critical of the role of queer politics in struggles for social justice; its intersections with other feminist, anti-caste and political economic struggles. Most significantly, it presents a time to expand and fortify the sense of community, care and togetherness. Delhi Queer Fest 2016 features events such as a travelling workshop on ‘Queer Everydays’; an open mic night; a series of theatre workshops leading up to a performance, body percussion and music workshops, a fresh new edition of Queer Conversations and a curated exhibition and installation.
