Event Description : BOOK DISCUSSION : Cambridge University Press presents "Discretion, Discrimination and the Rule of Law" by Mrinal Satish
Rape and sexual assault remain a troubling societal reality with which India has been grappling for long now. The infamous Nirbhaya incident caused massive public outcry and international outrage and prompted the government to introduce stringent anti-rape laws. Yet, women’s security remains a much debated and under-resolved issue and requires much more dialogue and reform.
Join the discussion of Discretion, Discrimination and the Rule of Law, which addresses and analyses the rape sentencing regime in India and proposes an institutional reform as a solution to the problem of unwarranted disparity in rape sentencing in the country.
