Event Description : MUSIC : Tribute to the legend Amjad Sabri by Sufi singers Sufi Hayat Brothers (Hamsar Hayat Nizami and brothers) and Sabri Sufi Brothers (Haji Iqbalshad Sabri, Dilshad Sabri and Irshad Sabri)
The world of music was in for a rude shock with the assassination of young Amjad Farid Sabri. The entire music fraternity has been grieving since this gruesome incident. The 45-year-old singer belonged to the famous Sabri Brothers ( Ghulam Fareed Sabri & Maqbool sabri) who have not been clearly understood.
Ghulam Farid passed away in 1994 leaving behind his musical legacy to his five sons. The other brother Maqbool Sabri too died 2011 in South Africa while on a music tour. Among all of Farid’s sons the one that shone bright was Amjad Farid Sabri
Born on 23rd December 1970, Amjad was initiated into music by his father. Before he entered his teens, Amjad was already accompanying his father and uncle in their Qawwali party. Amjad was seen as the young dynamic face of an ancient musical tradition. He not only revived a lot of his fathers and uncle’s famous Qawwalis but also set to tune new Sufi songs. He became famous as the ‘Rock Star’ of the Qawwali genre over a period of time.
Sufi Hayat Brothers : Sufi Hamsar Hayat Nizami ji Brothers is group of prodigies’ singers who hold the legacy of being in the profession for more than last seven centuries. Presently Ustad Hamsar Hayat Nizami is the lead vocalist and the mentor of the band. The band comprised of Ustad Hamsar Hayat Nizami, Athar Hayat Nizami, Mazhar Hayat Nizami, Tahir Hayat Nizami and Sameer Hamsar Nizami son Of Ustad Hamsar Hayat Nizami. This band has links with great classical singer and paramount poet of his day. The former lead vocalist of this group was a paramount and a famous classical singer and paramount poet Late Ustad Hayat Nizami, also father of Ustad Hamsar, Athar, Mazhar and Tahir. This group has been performing for various cultural events, shows and bashes. The main genre of this band has been Sufi singing, bhajans, Sai bhajans and Qawwali at stages throughout India. Their Sai bhajans are really popular and loved by the listeners in likes of Deewana Tera Aya Baba Teri Shirdi Mein, Banda Garib Hai, and Hum Baba Wale Hai are some of most famous Sai bhajans of this group. The group has been performing Sufi, Bhajans and Qawwali’s at the events and stage shows. They have been part of many cultural programs and events throughout the nation. They have also been part of cultural shows for NGO’s, Government, University festivals, Charity Events, etc.
Sabri Sufi Brothers : Haji Iqbalshad sabri is a famous qawwali singer and first cousin of Sabri Brothers ( Ghulam Fareed sabri & Maqbool sabri).Haji iqbalshad sabri along with his sons Dilshad sabri & Irshad sabri performed at various cultural events & shows in India and abroad.They have a history which is rich , lustrous and royal in terms of art as this group is 4 centuries old. They took up qawwali 400 years back and generation after generation they been profoundly taking up this legacy to newer world and heights. They belong to Darbar Hazrat Khawaja Faqruddin chishty RA Sarwar Ajmer
