Note : None of the events are ticketed. Studio Safdar is unable to pay anything to the artists who enrich our lives, unless you contribute. We’ll spread the chadar at the end of the performance. These contributions will be shared 50:50 with the artists.

Event Description : MUSIC : Live Concert by Surendra Singh Negi

In this unplugged concert the audience will get to listen to some numbers inspired from the Indian Sufi tradition, followed by some compositions on the issue of God’s existence-cum- relevance in today’s world keeping Bhakti sangeet in the backdrop. In addition to that the concert will also aim at bringing forth some contemporary issues like communal harmony, peace, freedom, etc. through music. 

The concert will be followed by a fifteen minutes interaction with the audience.

About the performers : 

S. S. Negi teaches at The English and Foreign Languages University, a central university in Hyderabad since 2009. As a music composer Negi is deeply influenced by the Indian folk and Indian classical music. He is a self trained musician with no formal training though he writes poetry and plays guitar since 2000.He uses music as a means to narrate the lives of common people and the issues they experience by writing poetry on contemporary issues surrounding us like peace, communal harmony, human rights, gender equality, religious tolerance, rationality, scientific temperament, etc. He has worked with two contemporary bands i.e. Jan Samwaad and Indian Folks as vocalist, lyricist and rhythm guitarist where they have fused Indian folk music with Indian classical music and western soft rock and as a result one gets to hear a unique blend of sounds.
