About the play: The play “Konark” is set in the medieval Orissa , which is known for its mesmerising architecture. It unveils the mystery behind the ruins of the Konark Temple whereas other temples of Orissa are still standing intact. This temple was ironically destroyed by the very hands which created it while trying to protect themselves from the enemy who had surrounded the temple from outside.
These were those artists who were once well appreciated by the king but were now oppressed by the chief of the royal army , who had usurped powers from the King. A young man Dharmpad takes over the task of making the temple of Konark from the chief craftsman Vishu. He is a highly skilled craftsman but is also the rebel who is saddened with the plight of the artisans tortured by the Chief.
The play unravels the growth of this young man and how he unites his men and fight against the oppressor.
It is a mesmerising light and sound extravaganza not to be missed….
