About KALA MELA 18:: Art has been the most prized possession of India since time immemorial. We (Indians) have stood oracle to the world in preaching art, and craft. The ancient temples and fascinating caves of south India stands testimony to it even today. The walls of eminent forts and temples like Ajanta and Ellora, Meenakshi and Khajuraho adorn paintings and craft works of the guptas and mughals. Of late art has seen a bizarre dip in its popularity and we are no stranger to its demise. Even our forefathers have considered painting as an idle profession.
To reawaken the slept desire for painting a group of painters have initiated a fair. The fair comprises of different portrait works from contemporary artists. Their motive is to bring renaissance in the realm of art and painting and invoke the lost interest for painting and art in masses. We reside in a society where aspiring painters are forced to switch profession because our vision has become shrouded with a thought that it is full of struggle and their lives are marred.
Amid all this a proactive group among us has volunteered in uniting painters from across the length and breadth of nation to accord them with their due credit for arousing  the cold passion for one field that has bejeweled our country since early medieval period.
Till now KALA MELA 18 has successfully accomplished 5 of its fairs which boasts of works form more than 200 painters from almost every state. And which ultimately benefits the painter who stand cleric to this dying treasure we once fancied. In addition to this the KALA MELA 18 is planning a grand exhibition by march 2015 with a group of around 200 painters. So let’s contribute to this initiative by making our presence felt.
