Event Description : Max Mueller Bhavan presents Long Night of Literature 2014.
The Long Night of Literature, fifth in the series of literary encounters on contemporary writings in German, is jointly hosted by Pro Helvetia-Swiss Arts Council and Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan.
Moderated by young German author Christopher Kloeble, this event of prose, poetry and translation will include conversations and readings from books by German and Swiss authors and will bring together literature enthusiasts.
The programme will be mainly in English.
Thomas Lehr will be reading from his novel, "September – Fata Morgana" and will be in conversation with his translator Mike Mitchell.
Monica Cantieni will be reading from her novel „Grünschnabel“ („The Encyclopaedia of Good Reasons“). Sampurna Chattarji, poet, novelist and translator will be in conversation with the Swiss author.
Saskya Jain’s reading will be the first public performance of “Fire Under Ash” being the debut novel of the young Indian-German author.
Mike Mitchell has published over seventy translations from German and French and received numerous awards for his work. He will be in conversation with Chitra Harshvardhan, Chairperson of the Centre of German Studies, Jawaharal Nehru University.
