Once popular and widespread they are seen with respect, their art form is now in decline with most practitioners living in poverty. Due to their expertise with disguise and impersonation, Behrupiyas were used to dressed as Indian Gods-Goddesses - Shiva, Hanumana, Krishna or sometime as Ravana, policeman, priest, or other figures and create a commotion and entertainment. But such things are rarely seen today. Bhati feels they are Artists in a true manner. They use their body as a canvas and express their emotions through their ‘Body Art’. This innocent dying art of Behrupiya needs to be preserved in this so called modern world also.
