6:30 pm - ‘Ek Kahani…’
Love has been an eternal feeling and may people have defined it in distinct ways. Some say that love is to be faithful and loyal while some believe that love does not mean to acquire someone but to surrender yourself to the other person. We live in a complex world where our heart is often in a tiff with our mind and our logic. Circumstances lead us to make decisions that we may not always agree with. Ek kahani travels through such nuances and tells the story of two young souls who loved each other since they met as kids but their morals take them onto two distinct paths. The story tells about hard working Aarif who chose to stay away from his love only to satisfy the expectations others have of him. The burdens of a social education discourage Aarif to express his true feelings. The story makes you meet a beautiful and charming girl Naziya, who does not question her love even though she knows that he is leaving her. Naziya’s life dwells underneath her father’s controlling nature and stops her from taking the leap of courage to stop Aarif from leaving. But fate has its own design. The clock ticks by and an appointment letter for a new job makes Naziya and Aarif come face to face again. Things have changed now but the question remains that has the eternal bond of love changed. Ek Kahani is different than many ballads of love in many ways. It does not talk of love as the weakening force but the strength that drives a human to become better person irrespective of the terrain of life. Love requires an ounce of courage to be able to fill your life.

7:30 pm : ‘Jungli Jaanwar’
Jungli Jaanwar based on “The Brute” a story written by Anton Chekhov and translated in Urdu by Ms. Bilquis Zafarul Hassan. Jungli Jaanwar brings to this ageless war a vivid battle between Mrs. Khan and Nadir Changezi. Mrs. Khan is determined to faithfully mourn her unfaithful husband while Mr. Changezi is an equally determined creditor bent on hounding the widow for the repayment of his loan. This war of words escalates, and soon in utter frustration, Changezi challenges the “grieving” widow to a duel. When Mrs. Khan proudly accepts, sparks begin to fly, but not sparks of contempt. Changezi finds in her defiance an overwhelming attraction that he cannot fight. As the play ends, the proposal for a duel is rescinded and a proposal of marriage is issued instead.

5th January :
6:00 pm : ‘Udne Ko Aakash Chahiye’
We see Arvind trying to appease his parents in their expectations of a high profile salaried son, and trying to keep up his passion for dance. His friend Manik, is on the other hand, someone who has been able to break away from the cudgels of a routine life, and following his aspirations to be a journalist. The tea shop is the meeting place of other faces of the middle class including Arvind and Manik. Working in a high-profile newspaper office as a reporter, Manik decides to stroll through a part of a city’s underbelly. The encounter opened another way of life, when he reported about corruption running within system, which cast aspersions political class. Meanwhile, we see Arvind's family, plot his marriage according to the market value that their son can fetch in the dowry bazaar. The 'deal' falls through when Arvind announces that he has quit his job. Some unexpected turns occur; Manik is thrown out when he tested his boss’s 'noble' intentions, by writing another article on city’s slums, and Arvind met with a severe accident.
Still, Manik and Arvind pick up the pieces and start afresh, albeit running the risk of failure and penury. The play ends here, by showing that the middle class needs to look within itself to transform society.
