Artchiving;an artist’s perspective – is a project cum exhibit theorized by Ranjita Chaney Menezes, is aimed at creating an archive of artist’s practice and their beliefs. Endeavouring at a resourceful exchange of dialogues between artists practices and influences in their journey.
Perceiving finished works on display from every artist, interviews about their practice and thesis on their work style, is not abundant. So we nearly are revisiting the basic question everybody is keen to have an answer to – ‘How is it done’, what’s the artist thinking when creating or working one piece and many more? Hence this is an attempt to collect imagery along with words and information.
We noticed in the past incidents that viewer experiences difficulty knowing ‘where to begin’ to know about an artist deeply. So here we bring a one to one exchange and make our artists available and accessible to everyone, to provide people with meaningful points of entry.
To express largely, this is an effort of presenting art and practice to a broader audience through this personal interaction of self. Though it is characterised that artists’ are collaborators exploring thoughts and ideas with others. Certainly by documenting not artists’ works and beliefs alone but their personal and private thoughts and naked studios, we accentuate upon meaning not just given by the artist but by the people who participate in the work, be it in planning, production or presentation.
