Event Description : SPICMACAY presents Rajasthani Folk by Ustad Rehman Khan Langa. As part of VIRASAT 2013.
Born on 12th December 1952 in a family of Langas, the traditional family of folk singer of Jodhpur (Rajasthan). He received his initial training in singing by his father Ustad Mange Khan. Later he received advanced training from the eminent folk singer Ustad Late. Noor Mohammad Langa and Ustad Alauddin Khan Langa. He started giving public performance when he was just 6 years old. He has performed widely both in the India and abroad for the last 40 years.
He is a senior artist of All India Radio and performed several times in the music conference organised by the All India Radio, Delhi.
He has performed :-
In 1986 – Apna Utsav, Delhi. In 1991-received Surmani Award. In 1994 – Rajiv Gandhi Award in investiture ceremony for Excellence in Secularism. In September 2002 “INDIA CHEM 2002″ at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, By Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Apart from India he has performed abroad:-
In 1982- performed in Barbarian Art Center (London) and was transformed into a little ‘Dream India’ during the Aditi Exhibition held there as part of the festival of India.
In 1985- performed in Smithsonian Institution Washington D.C. (U.S.A)
In March, 1990 programme at “Flower International Exhibition”, Osaka (Japan) & Moscow (Russia)
In 1991 – Karachi, Islamabad (Pakistan) organised by I.C.C.R
In 1992 – Indian festival (Paris)
In April, 1994 – in a long celebration of India and Australia organised by the Australia-Indian Council in the city of squares of Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne.
In 1994 – Program organised by the Govt. of Korea (South Koreas) in a food festival.
In March 1996 – “Gold Festival” organised by Govt. of Dubai.
In 1998 – programme organised by I.C.C.R. in Nepal.
In June 2000 – Paris, Murucxco & Cairo (Egypt) organised by I.C.C.R.
In 2001 – International Music Festival “Sharq Taronalari” Samarkand (Uzbekistan)
In April 2004 – programme organised by National Bal Bhawan, India in Mauritius
In May 2004 – (U.S.A.-Calofornia, Shikago, New Jercy, Atlanta & Washington DC), “India Heritage Festival” organised by I.C.C.R
