Event Description : British Council and WORKSHOP Architecture are presenting ‘Building Community'- an exhibition about the studio that will showcase their work revolving around community focussed architecture. The exhibition will focus on the processes behind the studio's work, rather than simply the final outcomes. Rough sketches, material samples, structural tests and on-site footage will try to convey the reality of working 'in the field' with the local community. It will capture the studio's attempt to 'think with their hands', and design intuitively in response to shifting and fluid conditions on the ground and feature the research and materials for their upcoming project: Project Hariharpur.

WORKSHOP Architecture is a non-profit design + make studio that focuses on participation, learning by doing, and cultivating deep understanding of place. Living temporarily with the communities they are working with, they bring new ideas whilst engaging in local building crafts and materials, to bring about an architecture of exchange that is both challenging and pragmatic.
