Art is about communication.
Art is about inspiration.
Art is about conversations.
Art is about translations.
Today, artists work in the current world with contemporary translations.
They delve into history and politics, they research design and form, they borrow and convert, they use and discard, they laugh and cry in their narrations and above all they create.
It is translation and inspiration that artists work at. It is all about the way they use the past or a fragment of the past that is the art of today. "Yesterday Once More " is a collection of art works that have used and translated strands of history.
Farhan Mujib creates exquisite collages inspired by the miniature traditions of India. He captures the spirit of history from architecture and the palette of the miniature painter. On the other hand Rebecca Gupta steals the vibrancy and colours of the treasuries of the past. She revisits the roots of kitch in her urban caricaturisation icons. N Ramachandran works at tangent with the richness of gold and silver from the environment of royal opulence's with the most sophisticated sublime use of the metals in a contemporary fashion in large abstract canvases . Prafull Singh's sculpture in pure forms look at the philosophical practices of meditation, yoga and vision. Nataraj on the other hand uses wit and fantasy in his jewel like hues in his charming watercolors. He uses an urban adaptation of the life of a common man and his fantasy. Yesterday once more is about inspirations and current combinations. It is about the contemporary. It is India today, yes also incredible India today.
