Event Details : Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra presents 'Krishna' a dance drama based on the life of Lord Krishna.
The first half of the dance drama, Krishna is devoted to the populist episodes like Makhan Chori, Govardhan, Kaliya Raas etc. In this production, a new dimension has been added to the status of women. Here, ‘Krishna’ himself elevates the status of ‘Radha’ from her being just a beloved to that of her being “HIS DIVINE CONSORT”. The second half relies on a specially commissioned script of lesser-known incidents from the Mahabharata. There has been a conscious attempt to step out of the groove of blind faith and throw up questions of relevance. With this end in view, the script in the second half deals with incidents that open up a plethora of topics for discussion that are universal and timeless.
Our mythology and epics hold the belief that among the ten God incarnates, Krishna alone is endowed with all the sixteen Kalas (attributes), making him a complete Godhead. He is the Supreme Being. Though participating in all worldly actions and activities, he is indifferent to their reactions, showing a unique detachment from all earthly happenings, a quality which raises him much higher than the mortals of this world who, always remaining glued to material possessions and power forget the path of Dharma, and follow false values of life. This is the main reason for the Kendra to show the life of Shri Krishna every year in the form of a dance-drama; to inspire people to follow the path of righteousness.
