Event Description : This month, Mr. Yatindra Mishra will read from his book Lata : Sur-Gatha
Standing at the confluence of Cinema, Music and Literature Lata : Sur-Gatha is a rare book which celebrates Art in all its totality, against the backdrop of the life of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Yatindra Mishra, a poet and a Cinema and Music Scholar ,has done extensive research and has conducted a dialogue with the great singer herself which spans nearly a decade. It touches every topic under Arts and a Artist's life. The biggest achievement of the book is that it has also explored the untouched aspects of the great artist. It introduces Lata Mangeshkar to the world as a great thinker, an intellectual and a cultural exponent, apart from her popular image as a playback singer.
Yatindra Mishra is a Poet, Editor and Music & Cinema Scholar. He has a four collections of Hindi poetry, three books on Music and many more books on Literature, Music and other Arts to his credit.
Felicitated with many Awards his recently published book Lata : Sur-Gatha : based on the Musical Journey of the famous play back singer Lata Mangeshkar, has been gaining wide critical acclaim. The book was honoured with the Golden Lotus for the Best Book on Cinema in the 64th National Film Awards-2016.
