Event Details : ‘Natya Tarangini’ Raja Radha Reddy Institute of Kuchipudi Dance is back with ‘Parampara 2009’- National Festival of Music and Dance. The title for this year’s Parampara series is ‘ARADHANAM’ ( Guru-Shishya ).

The guru-shishya tradition, lineage, or parampara, is a spiritual relationship where teachings are transmitted from a guru (teacher) to a 'śiṣya' (disciple). Such knowledge, whether it be vedic, agamic artistic, architectural, musical or spiritual, is imparted through the developing relationship between the guru and the disciple. It is considered that this relationship, based on the genuineness of the guru, and the respect, commitment, devotion and obedience of the student, is the best way for subtle or advanced knowledge to be conveyed. The student eventually masters the knowledge that the guru embodies.
Though Guru Shishya Parampara concept encompasses kith and kin also, the Parampara series this year will showcase the most promising disciples of famous gurus. You will see Gurus Raja and Radha Reddy with Shallu Jindal in Kuchipudi dance, Guru Hariparasad Chaurasia with Rakesh Chaurasia Hindustani Flute , Guru Karaikudi R. Mani with R. Ramesh and others in a ‘Taal Vaadya Kutcheri’ i.e. percussion ensemble, Guru Nedunuri Krishnamurthy with the Malladi Brothers in carnatic vocal, Smt. Kalamandalam Sugandhi with Dr. Neena Prasad in Mohiniattam dance and Guru Durga Charan Ranbir and his disciples in Odissi dance.
