- About the Play : “Of God & Country” is based on the essay 'Why I am an Atheist’ that the well known Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh wrote before he was hanged. Set in a jail in pre-independence India the play is a conversation between martyr Bhagat Singh and his British guard who wonders why a man who is about to be hanged shortly doesn't believe in God.
