Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre : India is a special country. According to many, it is as complicated and autonomous as an independent continent. Respect for local tradition is a primary condition for successful work here. The Institute’s most important working principal, therefore, is to present the fruits of Hungarian culture, science and education, together with the work of ethnic Hungarians in neighboring countries and emigré Hungarian artists, to an increasingly wide audience, while taking into account India’s unique attributes.
The programmes organized by the Institute present high quality representations of Hungarian artistic life on a daily basis to a wide audience and to the press in India.
From time to time, however, a particularly significant event focuses upon the entire country of Hungary.
The Institute strives to present all areas of Hungarian music through its musical programmes. Indian music lovers acquainted themselves with European classical music, Hungarian folk music and dance, as well as with jazz, medieval European music and world music.
