  • Play Info : Celebrating fifty years of Indo-French collaboration through the Alliance Française, we bring you Egalité, a light comedy that skirts the pre-conceptions we have about each other across cultures.
  • Set in a party somewhere in Delhi, the play revolves around four young characters, all searching for an ideal. Chloe, a young French filmmaker wants to live and work in India where she feels closer to 'reality'. Similarly, Bob, a struggling French poet, feels that India holds the inspiration for his writing. At the other end, Diya and Arnab have dreams of living in France. She is an enthusiastic art student who dreams of painting in the cafés of Montmartre. He is an idiosyncratic designer who wants to take the fashion industry by storm. All four of them are looking for a benefactor, someone to help them realise their daydreams. Their individual fortunes are given a boost when an ‘influential’ French woman misplaces her bag at the party. She promises to reward the person who finds it generously. Here begins a frantic search for this petit brown bag, in which the four characters encounter a motley group of Delhi's local and French residents - an artist, a dancer, an intellectual, an actress, a chef ... all of whom become suspects.
  • Egalité will feature some of Delhi's most colorful and renowned personalities in its cast, many of whom have been closely associated with the Alliance Française.
